This is an adorable quilt sampler that SU gave out to demonstrators at a recent event. All the fabric here was cut with the SU Big Shot!
I had seen pictures of demos with their new samplers. And I had also seen an adorable purse made using one of the Big Shot dies. So I was inspired to head to my mom's quilt store with my Big Shot in tow. Keep in mind, until now, I never had an interest in learning to sew or quilt. But my mom and I had a blast cutting out scalloped squares on the Big Shot, and I learned how to thread the machine that she gave me 10 years ago! Hey, I even USED it!
In case you need clarification, the Big Shot is a die-cut machine. There are several types of dies that you can use in this machine, and one type are the Bigz dies which have very deep blades so they can cut through many types of material. Since the dies will cut through fabric, quilters can cut fabric using this machine. It can cut through 8 layers of fabric at once so it is a huge time saver as opposed to using a rotary cutter or scissors! My mom was definitely impressed.
So anyways, a lot is going on behind the scenes here at my house. I have my craft room back after 2.5 years of it being a nursery. I spent the entire weekend putting it all together, and after the finishing touches, I can't wait to show you all! And I am excited to announce that my sewing machine now holds a spot on the "craft table". So I am definitely hoping to jump on the "quilt with the Big Shot" bandwagon. I already have a purse in the works. And I have many other ideas brewing in my head. My mother has been good for consulting, and making sure my ideas are feasible and on track with what beginners like me (and maybe you) will like and can handle!
So coming soon, you may see my own first sewing project using the Big Shot, some pics of my new stamp room, and this blog will hopefully be proof of my renewed crafting spirit...as I post ideas and inspiration for you often. Thanks for joining me!
