Necklace & Watch Holder

I got this idea from Mandy at CreativeCents, and was able to use items I already had on hand. The frame is from a bathroom picture at the old house. I ripped off the back awhile back, knowing the white frame would come in handy someday soon. The green background is Greenhouse Gala scrapbook paper. I also used a square cork piece I had on hand from the office store and clear thumb tacks. I also had to find a piece of sturdy cardboard from SU DSP packaging to finish off the back.

I will show you step by step how easy this was!

First cut your cork board the size of the frame. Then cut your paper or fabric a little longer on two sides. Use strong adhesive to tightly wrap the paper/fabric around the edges and around to the back. Adhere it to the back of the cork.

Place your covered cork into the frame.

Place your cardboard backing in the frame. If the frame doesn't come with a cardboard backing and you have to cut one yourself, make sure you cut it slightly larger than the frame so it's a tight fit. You want it to stay in.

Layout your tacks or pins where you want them before poking them into your board. You may want to use a ruler and make markings.

My pins were so long that they went through the cork AND the cardboard backing. I didn't want them scratching up my wall. So I used the extra piece of cork that was cut off to buffer the sharp tacks.

It was that easy. Thanks for the idea, Mandy. And let us know if you try this too!

What a neat idea! I wish I had a reason to make one, but I don't wear much jewelry...maybe I will think of another reason to make one! :D Very cool!
