DSP Share: Project #33

This was a quick birthday card for my nephew turning 4. I used the brown DSP for the background and then cut the #4 from the colored DSP. #4 is attached with a pop dot.

Stamped Cupcake Toppers

Miles recently turned 5, and we celebrated with a treasure hunt party at the park with friends and family. I made our allergy-safe cupcakes, and iced them all fancy for the first time ever. Kinda fun.

I wanted to show you the cupcake toppers I stamped. I just used an alphabet set to make "X marks the spot" cupcakes.

I got my cupcake stand at Michaels with a 50% coupon for like $6.50. Yay!

Chalk Labels

I went shopping at my own garage sale and pulled out these white canisters that I almost sold away. They were perfect for the chalk labels that I bought without a purpose. :)

Just wait, the hutch itself may be white soon! I'm kind of on a white kick right now. ;)

Monogram Pine Cone Vase

I have a new obsession of trying to craftily decorate the new house. The Big Shot is so much fun for monogramming stuff!

Glass Vase: $1 Dollar Tree
Brown Base: $1 Dollar Tree
Pine Cones: boys picked them out of yard for me, for free ;)

Then I used SU white vinyl and Serif Essential alpha in the Big Shot.

Stamp Room Wall Art

I took the liberty to combine fabric and cardstock to create this piece for my stamp room wall. The fabric was leftover from the valence I made from the room.

Fabric makes up the background for the J and the flower. Certainly Celery cardstock is the background for the fabric.

I cut the "J" with my Serif Essentials alpha in the Big Shot, and I adhered it to the glass on the OUTSIDE of the project with Xyron adhesive. The flower is also on the OUTSIDE, with a designer button in the center. Finally, wide satin celery ribbon is also wrapped on the outside. I did put the backing OVER the ribbon so it is in place snug on the back.

I see a future class in the works here!

September Paper Share Update

I will have all the papers for our share tomorrow, September 10th. I will cut and package over the weekend, between time I am prepping Miles's treasure hunt birthday party! :)

Thanks to all those participating! You will have your papers very soon!

And I plan to wrap up the first paper share sample series here soon. I just have a handful of papers to use up! :) Thanks for playing along.
Big Shot + SU White Vinyl + SU Serif Essentials Alpha = Personalized Stair Buckets for the Fam!

I was going to put small square baskets on the stairs until I found these pots on clearance at Target for 66 cents each. I thought they would blend in well, and I was right!

To avoid two of the same letter (Jamie & Jeff or Mommy & Miles), we have "Daddy", "Jamie", "Miles", and "Graham". It works.

Jeff is not so sure about this concept. But we are using it. He thinks the buckets should go away when company is over. I say it's "Pottery Barn-ish" and is ok to stay out because it's cute. Who is right?

DSP: Wicked Fun

I made the shadow of the tree on the DSP work for the owl punch. :) The sentiment is punched out of the DSP too. And there's the new thin taffeta.

DSP Share: Project #30

DSP: Jolly Holiday

As promised, here is the other kitchen decoration I made using this DSP. I saw this idea here.

Since our DSP is just 6x6 and this was a 7" piece of glass, I used cardstock up at the top for the title. I have this sitting by my stove, and it is motivating me to plan our menus each week. I got the frame at HL 50% off this week. I loves it.

The title is stamped with Schoolbook alpha. Crooked, I know. But doesn't that just scream "I made this, people!"? ;)

DSP Share: Project #29

Update: Thanks for all the great feedback on this via email and comments. I think I could make up kits for this if anyone is interested. Email or comment if you would like me to work up a supply cost. It could be mailed long distance if needed. And I could customize with any current SU DSP! :)

DSP: Jolly Holiday

Oh my goodness, I am completely giddy! I have turned all Martha Stewart in the past couple days. Projects running through my head like crazy. Actually getting out supplies and CREATING. I can't wait to show you all the home decor I'm tackling. It's something about finally having your dresser and your son's bed moved into the new house that really starts the decor bug I guess!

ANYWAYS! I realized while perusing all these gorgeous home decor blogs that my dry erase boards on the frig, while semi-organized, were actually a ghastly sight....especially since we opened up the livingroom and kitchen and the frig is seen all over the main floor!

So I've been thinking all day on how to cutsify my many lists and my calendar...and our chore chart (to be shown later). During dinner the ideas were coming together for something cute but PRACTICAL (because that's me). After dinner I started creating.

First I pulled the SU chalk decor elements off of my stamp room wall. I never used it like I thought I would in there. YES, I pulled it off carefully and put it back up in a different place, the side of the frig. SU says these are not re-usable and I would not guarantee that they are. But I've been lucky a couple times!

I wanted the front of my frig to be clean so I put the vinyl chalk on the side facing all the cooking action. Then I cut Jolly Holiday DSP into 4x4 pieces for backgrounds for each of my lists. I think my lists may change so they are written in chalk, easily erasable. I used quite a few strong round magnets to make the button magnets. Has this been done before? The large buttons from SU's designer buttons fit the magnets perfectly. I adhered with a glue gun. Finally, I cut 3.5 square pieces of notebook paper to make my lists. And I wrote them in black so they would poop and look good.

THEN I needed a place to store my notebook sheets and my black marker. First I decorated a small plastic box but it turned out a bit too big popping off the frig. Then I cut it in half with my rubber scissors...that turned into a disaster. Finally I decided to make my own paper/pen holder by making a box with white cardboard from the DSP packs. I then embellished with more of the Holiday DSP lying on my table. I made those really cute scallop circle flowers next. My scraps made three flowers, and I glued more magnets onto them. Oh, the center of the flowers are vintage brads...oh my, have I gone vintage???

I am happy to report that Jolly Holiday is now completely used up. It's red and green colors actually match my kitchen colors so that worked out great. If you want to try this, find the DSP packs that match your home! With so many options, you are sure to find something that works!

I hope you love this idea as much as I do. :) It was a Jamie original, and I love it when that happens! Next I will show you my matching menu project!

September Product Share - DSP!

It's September, and we are finishing up our Designer Paper Share! This will include all the papers we did not do in July. From the big catalog it will be 6x6 double-sided samplers from:

Nursery Suite Specialty
Sweet & Sour Specialty
Greenhouse Gala
Love Letter
Celebrations
Lap of Luxury
Build-A-Bear
Newsprint

Then I will also include 6x6 double-sided samplers from all the DSP packs in the Holiday Mini Catalog:

Nite Owl
Autumn Spice
Deck the Halls

Candy Cane Christmas

In this economy, I know our pennies are precious. That's a big reason I wanted to do these monthly shares for you. They are a great way to sample lots of new product without breaking the bank. Even in a recession we still gotta play, right?! ;)

With that said, the July DSP share was 60 sheets for $15. And I expected with this new Holiday Mini that we would have a total of another 60 sheets. But instead, SU is offering FOUR DSP packs in the mini when I thought there would be two. And I just can't leave out any DSP...we have to try it all! So the September shares will include 72 sheets instead of 60.

If you pay for your September DSP before September 5th, you can get 72 sheets for just $15 which is under my cost! Yes, I just want to get these fun papers into your hands! After Sept 5th, the shares will be $17.

If you haven't seen my blog series for the July Designer Paper Share, go here and see all the samples I am making with it. I plan to inspire you with the September share as well!

Contact me soon if you would like to participate and plan on paying before September 5th for the discount. I've already filled one share of 8 and have 4 spots left in a second share. I can't promise we will have enough to start a third so sign up soon!

DSP: Sunny Garden

These were the last of my Sunny Garden run. Sometimes the DSP just speaks for itself, doesn't it!
